Job Description

Hi! I'm currently looking for a pro pixel artist to help build out the world of EVERON. Everon is a cosy idle MMO. The big idea is that you create an avatar, tell it what to do, and it keeps doing that while you're on or offline. So you come back and your avatar has gathered quest items to hand in, leveled up and unlocked talent points for you to assign, earned some coin to buy armor upgrades, and so on.

I've been working on this for a couple of years, on and off, and it's now at the point where it's clear where the content gaps are, with dozens of placeholder assets to replace. It's safe to assume some weeks of work, with much more planned for future development.

The art areas

  • World. The world uses 32px-per-meter 3D cube tiles, and it will need more tiles over time, plus need foliage / ground cover / etc.
  • Characters and creatures. Most interactable entities (NPCs, avatars, monsters, trees, fish) are pure 2D. Monsters and avatars live in Aseprite files and need a load of extra equipment, hairstyles, more monsters and so on.
  • Structures. Buildings, bridges and the like are simple, intentionally blocky 3D models with 32px-per-meter textures. For these I'll need someone vaguely competent in Blender as well as great at pixel art to design and build more.
  • UI. Many, many icons are needed, and the UI itself is a hack-fest of asset packs and my mediocre-at-best attempts at being a UI designer.

Your qualifications

  • You've shipped pixel art games.
  • You have years of experience as a pixel artist.
  • You have the availability to work seriously on this in the near term.
  • You're fluent in English and comfortable chatting over a webcam to discuss ideas and iterations.
  • Experience with Blender, 3D modelling or Unity is a plus, but not needed.
