Job Description

Titmouse is seeking a Color Designer for a 2D animated series. The Color Designer works directly with the Art Director and Director(s) to ensure the consistency of color models and assets in relation to backgrounds throughout the series. 

Format: Hybrid/Onsite (Applicants must be located within BC or willing to relocate)

Length of role: ASAP - February, 2027

Compensation:  $1,175/wk to $1,375/wk CAD, commensurate with experience and skill level

Work Location: 31 W 3rd Ave, Vancouver, BC V5Y 3T8

Hours per week: 40

Reports to: Color Supervisor, Art Director, Line Producer

*If the work for this position is performed within the geographical jurisdiction of the collective bargaining agreement, it will be covered by that agreement.

Knowledge, Skills and Required Abilities

  • Ability to align with the style and color sensibility of the show.
  • Experience in the creation of detailed style guides.
  • Broad knowledge of artistic styles and latest technology.
  • Proficiency with Photoshop, Harmony, and familiarity with Filemaker Pro, and Google Work Suite  
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written, e-social skills and professional acumen. 
  • Ability to be detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Must be open to direction and able to embrace change.
  • Able to work with limited direction and take feedback as tasks progress according to the schedule.
  • Able to ask appropriate questions to understand and complete assignments and tasks on schedule.
  • Able to multitask, work in a fast-paced production environment and manage time effectively to meet individual and team deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with different teams and stakeholders.
  • Maintain confidentiality over all matters and proprietary information.
  • Willingness to learn new tools and adapt to evolving industry standards and trends. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Design and maintain color designs for characters, props and effects.
  • Create unique lighting palettes for designs as directed by the Art Director.
  • Work closely with the Executive Producer, Director and Art Director on all aspects of the series’ look, color and mood. 
  • Obtain creative leadership approval on all color models created.
  • Work closely with Background Painters to create and maintain consistency in regards to the color and design of the project.
  • Adhere to the production schedule provided by Line Producer.
  • Review storyboard to ensure continuity of color key models.
  • Adhere to the naming conventions for assets.
  • Other duties as assigned.
