About Drama Studios

DRAMA STUDIOS is an independent game studio based in Rennes, France. We focus on creating immersive, gameplay-driven experiences through close collaboration between design, art, and technology.

About Unrecord

DRAMA STUDIOS is currently developing UNRECORD, a narrative open-world tactical FPS built with Unreal Engine 5.

UNRECORD aims to deliver a highly immersive experience through realism, systemic gameplay, and a strong narrative approach. The project sits at an AA ambition level, combining creative freedom with solid production pipelines and technical rigor.

Our goal is to craft believable worlds, meaningful player interactions, and gameplay systems that feel grounded, intense, and coherent.

The Role

You create high-quality 3D characters for UNRECORD: full characters, clothing, and accessory pieces, built with a classic AAA production pipeline and digital tailoring tools. Your work contributes to the visual fidelity and believable detail of our world.

The role calls for a strong artistic culture, solid anatomy skills, and a good understanding of fabrics, so that character designs read as grounded and visually striking in the game.

Regular on-site presence is expected. Partial remote work is possible.

Responsibilities

  • Create high-fidelity 3D character models, textures, and material setups in line with the realistic visual style of the project
  • Sculpt high-poly models, then produce clean retopology suitable for deformation, efficient UV layouts, and baked maps (normal, AO, curvature, etc.)
  • Author photorealistic PBR textures and material instances for real-time use
  • Work with Technical Art, Animation, and Design so that assets meet runtime performance budgets and technical constraints
  • Keep file structures clean and integrate character assets into the engine pipeline
  • Take part in asset reviews and iterate on feedback from art direction and playtests
  • Build characters from existing concepts, and contribute to character design upstream, in 2D or directly in 3D, when needed

Requirements

  • Experience in 3D character art or asset-focused roles for real-time applications
  • A portfolio showing realistic character work; personal projects, mods, and demos are welcome
  • Excellent command of industry-standard tools (ZBrush, Maya, Blender, Substance 3D Painter, Marvelous Designer, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of human anatomy, proportions, silhouette, and cloth behavior
  • Solid grasp of the classic AAA character pipeline (high-to-low poly workflows, UVs, PBR texturing)
  • Broad artistic culture (games, film, visual arts, photography)
  • Creative mindset and careful attention to detail
  • Comfortable working hands-on in production
  • Fluent or professional working proficiency in English and French, written and spoken
  • Knowledge of real-world garments, textiles, and clothing materials is a plus
  • Experience creating hyperrealistic, non-fantasy characters is a plus
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 5 workflows is a plus
  • A basic understanding of rigging, skinning, and technical setup is a plus
  • Ability to produce 2D concept art or quick visual iterations in early design phases is a plus
  • A passion for open-world and/or FPS games is a plus
