Position Overview

The Studio Art Department at Southwestern University invites applications for a Part-time Assistant Professor of Studio Art for the fall 2026 semester. We seek a candidate to teach undergraduate Painting and Drawing courses from beginning through advanced levels: Painting I, Drawing III, Topics in Painting. The department encourages applications from candidates who demonstrate a commitment to inclusive teaching practices, curricular innovation, and creative pedagogy.

Qualifications

  • MFA in Painting, Drawing, or Studio Art.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience at the undergraduate level preferred.

Compensation

$4,200 per course (MFA in hand by August 1). This is a part-time, non-benefited position.
