Senior Concept Artist

Who We Are
Warforge Studio is a game-development startup founded in 2025, building high-quality interactive entertainment for a global audience. Our flagship is a 4X strategy game with a distinctive top-down/isometric camera and a stylized-fantasy aesthetic, launching first in the Middle East and expanding worldwide. We pair local talent with international expertise, and we're still building our processes — you'll help define them.
About the Role
We need a Senior Concept Artist to help define the visual identity of our 4X strategy game — the factions, units, and worlds players command. You'll take briefs from top-down visual targets to shippable designs across characters, creatures, environments, and props, then deliver the sheets our 3D team builds from. This is not a pure illustration role. You'll work directly with the Art Director on visual R&D, set the design standard, and own the 2D-to-3D hand-off with a high degree of autonomy.
What You'll Own
Concept Design
- Design characters, creatures, environments, and props in our stylized-realism aesthetic, from exploration through final concept sheets.
- Ensure designs read clearly at top-down/isometric camera distances, with strong planar forms and clear silhouettes.
- Translate written and top-down visual targets into appealing, buildable designs that serve story and gameplay.
- Establish mood, color, and lighting keys that define the emotional tone of characters and locations.
Hand-Off & Pipeline
- Deliver turnarounds, callouts, color variants, and material breakdowns the 3D team and level designers can build from without guesswork.
- Design with real-time performance, animation, and rigging constraints in mind, not just aesthetics.
- Help define and document the concept pipeline and design language as the studio scales.
Quality
Set and hold the visual benchmark for concept art; give and receive structured critique.
What We're Looking For
Must-Have
- 6+ years of professional concept art experience, with at least one shipped title or production project.
- A strong generalist portfolio spanning characters and environments
- Mastery of form, color, and light — able to sell a design in 2D before it exists in 3D.
- Proven ability to design for production: clean orthographics/callouts, believable construction, hand-off-ready sheets.
- High autonomy — able to take a design from brief to final sheet with minimal oversight.
- Strong communication; comfortable defending design decisions and working in fast, iterative loops.
Strong Advantage
- Experience designing for a top-down or isometric camera.
- Familiarity with ZBrush/Blender or photobashing / 3D-assisted (blockout-to-paintover) workflows.
- Creature, hard-surface (armor/weapon), prop, or key-art range.
- Experience mentoring artists or contributing to art direction.
What This Is Not
- A junior or mid-level support role — we expect mastery and immediate impact.
- Pure illustration or key art — this is production concept design that feeds 3D and level design.
- A seat in a fully established process — you'll help build it.
Portfolio Requirements
- Your application must include a portfolio or reel showing:
- Designs with turnarounds and callout sheets (not only finished illustrations), across characters and/or environments.
- Evidence of production hand-off: orthographic, material notes, callouts, or work that shipped as 3D assets or levels.
- Stylized or stylized-realism work is strongly preferred.
- Designs made for a top-down or isometric camera are a strong bonus.
Note: We're primarily looking for a strong generalist, but we're also open to specialists — if your focus is specifically character or environment concept art, tell us and apply anyway.
