Animatics Artist (Junior - Mid)

Job Description
We’re looking for an Animatic Artist who can tell a clear story through uncluttered compositions, strong silhouettes, and a great sense of timing. You will need to understand schedule constraints and have evidence of creating storyboards and timing out / editing animatics. The ideal candidate will be able to handle a sequence from creating thumbnail sketches all the way through to a polished final pass, where you will establish the major beats and actions. As this is an audio-first pipeline the sound will help to dictate a lot of the timings.
Responsibilities:
Working from descriptions given by the art director and scripts, you’ll be using Adobe Animate to create animatics for the second series of kids’ animated tv show.
- Storyboarding the scenes and editing into an animatic, all within Adobe Animate.
- Liaising with writers, animators, and directors regarding the look, style, and level of detail required for the animatics of each episode.
- Reading and interpreting scripts.
- Breaking down the script with the director to plan them visually.
- Including key dialogue or scene directions within each frame.
- Choosing shot-making that is achievable in the schedule of the rest of the production pipeline.
- Amending animatics during the course of production.
Skills:
- Solid technical drawing skills, with an eye for strong compositions, clear silhouettes, and efficient action.
- Adobe Animate.
- Experience with timing out your own storyboards as animatics.
- Strong character animation skills are a bonus.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Understanding of the 2D animation pipeline and how shot-making affects it.
