Surfing Giant Europe is looking for experienced and passionate animation talent to join our team on an exciting 2D animated series!
Surfing Giant Europe creates original content with captivating stories, enriched by stunning animation and unique music. Our projects combine creativity and skill to push the boundaries of storytelling. With studios locations in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, Manchester, UK and Santa Cruz, Tenerife.

We are looking for a Lead Animator to join our talented team working on a high-profile 2D animated series for Disney TVA.

The successful candidate will:
- Have conversational English language skills.
- Expert-level knowledge of Toonboom software and pipeline
- Strong drawing and drafting skills and a clear understanding of animation principles.
- Minimum 3-4 years’ experience on a fast-paced rigged animation production pipeline
- Strictly follow the naming, filing, approval, and tracking protocols established by the Production department.
- Able to evaluate the complete animatic to understand the context of your specific assignment as well as that of your team.
- Mentoring and overseeing the animation staff with any technical questions, cultivating a constructive workplace, and conducting quality checks on the team's output.
- Helping to guide the animation team to hit artistic & technical quality benchmarks, setting best-practice workflows, and ensuring consistency across all animation.
- Collaboration & communication with your Animation director and supervisor to make sure the team is clear on all feedback and retake notes you/they receive.
- Create high-quality scenes, animations, and library cycles.
- To assist in any retakes within the team.
- Be willing to take on constructive feedback.
- Have excellent communication skills and a high attention to detail.
- Report to the Animation Directors and Animation Supervisor.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the desire to be a key team member.
- An understanding of file management software (Ftrack) would be an advantage.
