Job Description

We are looking for a Pixel Artist to create high-quality in-game pixel art assets and help push traditional 2D pixel art into a modern Unity-based 3D / 2.5D pipeline.

This role is focused on game assets only: characters, props, environments, gameplay objects, animations, textures, tiles, trims, and world-building elements. No UI work.

You’ll know this is for you if…

  • You have strong traditional pixel art skills and a portfolio that shows great silhouette, palette control, readability, and pixel-level craftsmanship
  • You can create characters, props, environments, and animated game assets with a consistent visual style
  • You are comfortable working with Unity, not only exporting assets, but testing and adjusting them in-engine
  • You are curious about combining 2D pixel art with 3D scenes, including sprites on planes, billboards, pixel-perfect cameras, tilemaps, 2.5D setups, and stylized real-time workflows
  • You enjoy both artistic polish and practical production work

What you’ll do

  • Create production-ready pixel art assets for characters, props, environments, gameplay objects, tiles, textures, trims, and animated elements
  • Prepare and implement assets in Unity, including scale, filtering, pivots, sorting, sprite atlases, tilemaps, materials, and in-engine polish
  • Work on hybrid 2D / 3D scenes and help define how pixel art assets should sit inside a modern real-time world without losing their charm
  • Create pixel textures and surface treatments for props, environments, materials, and modular world assets
  • Explore traditional and modern pixel art techniques, including limited palettes, pixel clusters, dithering, low-resolution texture design, tileable textures, and handcrafted surface detail
  • Help define and maintain pixel art standards across the project, including palette rules, pixel density, export settings, asset organization, and visual consistency

What we’re looking for

  • Strong pixel art portfolio focused on game assets, characters, environments, animation, textures, or stylized world-building
  • Senior-level experience with Aseprite, Photoshop, Pyxel Edit, or similar pixel art tools
  • Hands-on Unity experience with 2D workflows such as sprites, atlases, tilemaps, animation, pivots, sorting layers, materials, and basic scene setup
  • Good understanding of pixel art fundamentals: silhouette, color, contrast, rhythm, shape language, readability, and animation timing
  • Experience creating assets for at least one real-time game project. Personal, indie, or commercial work all count if the quality is strong
  • Ability to create clean, organized, production-ready files
  • Clear written English and comfort working in a fully remote, async production environment

Nice to have

  • Experience with 2.5D or 3D pixel art workflows
  • Experience applying pixel art textures to 3D assets
  • Substance Designer knowledge for stylized, procedural, or pixel-inspired materials
  • Experience with tile sets, trim sheets, modular environments, or world-building kits
  • Basic understanding of UVs, texture mapping, filtering, compression, and pixel density
  • Unity Shader Graph basics, especially for pixelation, hit-flash, dissolves, stylized materials, or post-processing
  • Light C# scripting
  • Experience with MagicaVoxel, Blockbench, Blender, or other 3D / voxel tools
  • Experience working on mobile or performance-constrained platforms

What we offer

  • A project with a strong artistic identity and real creative impact
  • A stable full-time role with flexible contract options: B2B or employment
  • Fully remote work with a collaborative production-focused team
  • Direct influence on pixel art quality, visual standards, and asset workflows
  • Opportunity to explore modern 2D / 3D pixel art techniques in Unity
  • Annual team retreat focused on alignment, learning, and team bonding

To apply: send your portfolio and a short note about one pixel art piece you are proud of and why. No cover letter required.
