About the Role

We are seeking a Character Artist to create high-quality characters within an Unreal Engine–first, real-time pipeline for episodic animation. This role focuses on building and refining human and creature characters, working closely with the Art Director and Creative Lead to support storytelling, performance, and visual continuity.

This role will support the development of stylized, high-quality content for kids and family audiences, requiring a strong sense of appeal, readability, and character-driven design.

The ideal candidate understands how character art, performance, and real-time constraints intersect in modern production workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Create and refine high-quality 3D character models, including humans and creatures, for episodic animation
  • Collaborate closely with the Art Director and Creative Lead to align characters with established visual style, tone, and narrative goals
  • Build character assets that meet defined artistic, technical, and performance requirements for real-time animation and rendering
  • Create, refine, and optimize character materials and textures for use in Unreal Engine
  • Implement, validate, and iterate on character assets in Unreal Engine 5 for linear animation workflows
  • Iterate on characters based on creative, technical, and production feedback
  • Maintain asset quality, consistency, and organization throughout the animation pipeline

Required Qualifications

  • Strong experience creating 3D character models for linear animation or episodic content in a DCC package such as Blender or Maya
  • Solid understanding of character topology, proportions, and deformation for animation
  • Experience creating and optimizing materials and textures for characters
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine 5 for linear animation or episodic workflows

Pluses

  • Experience working with Unreal Engine’s MetaHuman pipeline
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine skeletal mesh systems and dynamic character features
  • Experience supporting both realistic and stylized character pipelines, particularly for stylized or family-oriented content
  • Experience working within real-time or hybrid DCC-to-engine workflows
