Job Description
Lanterns is an independent video game studio based in Tunis, Tunisia, focusing mainly on narrative video games. At Lanterns, we exist to deliver compelling and responsible gameplay experiences and meaningful stories to the world.
We are looking for a 3D Character Artist to collaborate with us on a project basis and bring high-quality, game-ready characters to life.
Main Responsibilities:
- Sculpt and model high-quality 3D characters (realistic or stylized) aligned with the artistic direction.
- Create detailed clothing, accessories, and character elements.
- Perform retopology and optimization for real-time use.
- Create clean UVs and high-quality textures following a PBR workflow.
- Deliver both high and low polygon meshes ready for engine integration.
- Ensure characters meet technical constraints and animation requirements.
- Collaborate remotely with the art and technical teams to maintain consistency and quality.
- Implement feedback and revisions as needed throughout production.

Job skills
- Expert knowledge of ZBrush for character sculpting, preferably stylized character.
- Strong proficiency in 3DS Max (or equivalent software).
- Expert knowledge of Substance Painter and Photoshop.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, proportions, and character design.
- Solid knowledge of real-time character production workflows (PBR, topology optimization, normal/displacement maps, etc.).
- Experience creating game-ready characters optimized for Unreal Engine.
- Strong portfolio showcasing high-quality 3D character work.
Nice to have:
- Understanding of rigging and animation requirements.
- Familiarity with UE5.
- Experience with hair workflows (cards or groom systems).
- Strong communication and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
