Honey B Games is looking for a 2D Artist to help us create future content for Focus Friend by Hank Green. We need someone who feels passionate about crafting tiny worlds in a cozy game. We’re a very small team working on a widely recognized product! A paid art test will be part of the interview process.
About Focus Friend
Focus Friend is a cozy, gamified focus timer created by online educator Hank Green. In 2025, Focus Friend made it to #1 in the App Store. It won several awards, including Google Play’s Best App of 2025, Google Play’s Best App for Personal Growth, and the App Store Cultural Impact Award.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Sketching out new environments and props
- Rendering sketches into polished artwork
- Coloring objects several times over for palette swaps and doing slight cosmetic changes for themed items.
- Concepting personalities and designs for new characters
- Mocking up UI screens
- Creating and adjusting UI elements
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in games or apps
- Ability to match the established style of Focus Friend
- Experience with creating art for isometric view
- High creativity for concepting new environments and characters
- Proficiency in Photoshop and Clip Studio Paint
- Ability to accept and implement feedback
- Strong communication skills
- Collaborative personality
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to switch gears and address issues that need immediate attention
- Portfolio demonstrating these qualities
Bonus Points:
- Experience with Spine and/or Unity
- Affinity for cozy games
- Comfortable and excited about working with a small team
Hours, Benefits & Legal Details
- ~20 hrs/week, freelance contract to start with the possibility to turn into full time salary (terms to be discussed at that time)
- Paid hourly at $25-35/hr based on experience
- Must speak fluent English
- Must be based in North or South America time zones
