Story Artist

Job Summary:
The Story Artist plays an integral role in bringing ideas to life by creating visual sequences which tell the story while illustrating the scene that motivates the action, emotions and humor of the characters.
Your Role Responsibilities:
- Create storyboard sequences, from quick sketches to detailed storyboard panels from a script, pitches or thumbnails.
- Pitch thumbnails or rough storyboards to the Director, Head of Story, crew, and creative department heads
- Collaborate with Director, Head of Story to define staging, pacing, and camera.
- Develop innovative performance, action, and humor ideas
- Deliver storyboards that align with the creative goal of the project while meeting predetermined deadlines.
Your Qualifications and Experience:
- Must have a storyboard portfolio that demonstrates a clear understanding of the principles of animation, storytelling and filmmaking.
- Portfolio should demonstrate staging, acting, scene composition and camera movement skills.
- Ideal candidates will have samples of comedy, action, and drama scenes in their portfolio.
- Degree or certificate in animation or art preferred
- Advanced knowledge of Storyboard Pro and/or Photoshop, experience with FLIX and Wacom Cintiq drawing tablet a plus
- Must be able to work on a team of artists, take direction and feedback from creative leadership.
- Comfortable iterating until the final design is realized and approved.
- Manage time efficiently to meet deadlines and production milestones.
- Passion for animation.
- Must be able to be in the studio 3 days a week.
The Legal Bits
In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual compensation will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Pay Range: $52.83 (CBA scale) - $82.50 per hour. This role qualifies for benefits according to the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
