Job Description
The Animator takes direction from the Director and is responsible for bringing characters, objects, and environments to life in the style of the project.
Estimated Length of Project: March 2nd and 14th, 2026 - End of June/Mid-July 2026
Compensation: $990.00/wk - $1275/wk, commensurate with experience and skill level
Hours per week: 40
Reports to: Animation Supervisor
Format: Hybrid/Onsite (Candidates must be eligible to come into the Titmouse office in Vancouver)
*If the work for this position is performed within the geographical jurisdiction of the collective bargaining agreement, it will be covered by that agreement.
Job Description
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES
- Experience as a 2D Animator, showcasing a strong portfolio of high quality animation work.
- Proficiency with Adobe Animate / Flash
- Familiarity with various animation styles, including traditional hand-drawn, cut-out, and puppet animation.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, written, e-social skills and professional acumen.
- Ability to be detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Must be open to direction and able to embrace change.
- Able to work with limited direction and take feedback as tasks progress according to the schedule.
- Able to ask appropriate questions to understand and complete assignments and tasks on schedule.
- Able to multitask, work in a fast-paced production environment and manage time effectively to meet individual and team deadlines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with different teams and stakeholders.
- Maintain confidentiality over all matters and proprietary information.
- Willingness to learn new tools and adapt to evolving industry standards and trends.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create high-quality 2D animation that adheres to project specifications, artistic direction, and established visual styles.
- Apply animation principles, such as character performance, posing, lip sync, timing, and motion.
- Take direction and notes from Director(s), supervisor(s) and leads.
- Meet deadlines as set by Director(s) and production management.
- Implement character and object movements, expressions, and actions, ensuring consistency and believability.
- Ensure that animations are synchronized with sound and dialogue.
- Take ownership of assigned animation tasks, and manage time efficiently in order to meet quota requirements and deadlines.
- Continuously collaborate with the team to improve animation quality and workflow processes.
- Work closely with the Director(s) to address creative and technical notes in order to satisfy the creative goals of the project
- Follow naming conventions for assets and animation.
- Stay updated with industry trends, new techniques, and tools to enhance animation skills and knowledge.
- Other duties as assigned.
