Job Description

Job Purpose

To create accurate, level-appropriate and high-quality illustrations for learning and assessment materials, while adhering to established brand guidelines and production timelines

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Create original illustrations in line with defined visual styles, briefs and brand guidelines
  • Use digital tools such as Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop to develop and refine high-quality artwork efficiently
  • Interpret and translate visual requirements accurately for educational contexts
  • Maintain high standards of quality and consistency across all output
  • Contribute to improvements in illustration workflows and production processes
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislative, copyright and quality standards

Skills and Requirement:

  • Strong illustration skills, demonstrated through a portfolio of original work
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Attention to detail and a quality-focused approach
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills

Preferred:

  • Experience working within established brand or visual style frameworks
  • Prior experience illustrating for educational content
  • Familiarity with accessibility considerations in educational visuals
  • Experience collaborating with editors, designers or content developers in a production environment

Knowledge & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience as an illustrator, preferably within educational publishing or a structured production environment
  • Strong understanding of illustration fundamentals
  • Experience interpreting briefs and adapting illustration style to meet predefined guidelines
  • Understanding of visual consistency, accessibility and clarity for learning materials
