2D Game Illustrator

Job Description

We're seeking a creative 2D Game Illustrator to bring our educational apps to life with beautiful, child-friendly visuals that inspire young learners.

Join our growing app development team at Aras Mega as we develop exciting apps and games for children's digital education! Our biggest project is the StoryTime app, where we develop a non-addictive kids' app for 3-7-year-olds.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and create high-quality 2D game assets, including characters, environments, UI elements, props, and backgrounds
• Produce attractive and engaging assets tailored for children's digital activities
• Develop concept art and iterate based on creative direction and feedback
• Ensure all assets align seamlessly with our visual style guide
• Provide files following Game Engine requirements (Unity) in appropriate formats and specifications
• Create sprite sheets, animations, and visual effects as needed
• Optimize assets for performance across multiple devices and platforms
• Collaborate closely with game designers, animators, and developers throughout the production pipeline
• Maintain organized file structures and asset documentation
• Stay current with industry trends in children's educational content and game art

Required Qualifications:

• Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Illustration, Fine Arts, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience as a game illustrator or 2D game artist
• Strong portfolio demonstrating 2D illustration skills, character design, and environmental art
• Proficiency in industry-standard software: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or Procreate
• Experience creating assets for digital games or mobile apps
• Understanding of Unity workflow and technical asset requirements
• Knowledge of sprite creation, texture atlasing, and asset optimization
• Strong understanding of color theory, composition, lighting, and perspective
• Ability to work within brand guidelines and maintain visual consistency
• Adaptable to different art styles

Nice to Have Qualifications:

• Experience with children's content or educational apps
• Familiarity with animation principles and frame-by-frame animation
• Knowledge of UI/UX design for games

Technical Skills:

• Good digital illustration and painting skills
• Understanding of file formats (PNG, PSD, SVG, etc.) and when to use them
• Knowledge of resolution requirements for different platforms (mobile, tablet, desktop)
• Ability to create scalable vector graphics when needed
• Understanding of color spaces (RGB, CMYK) and asset export settings
