Job Description
As part of our development, we are looking to strengthen our artistic team by recruiting a confirmed Lead 3D Character Artist to help us build and improve our virtual reality games on Unity.
Key responsibilities
- Explore technical solutions to create high quality 3D characters while considering engine, platform, and technical limitations, such as triangle budgets, drawcall budgets, and shaders.
- Manage, supervise, and work with our character artist(s), animator(s), and technical artist(s).
- Model and texture a variety of 3D characters based on provided concept art.
- Model outfits for 3D characters based on provided concept art and/or moodboards, while considering requirements for clothing modularity and customization.
- Export high/low poly models and textures to the Unity game engine and ensure their proper integration and optimization.
Requirements
- Good experience in sculpting, modeling, and texturing realistic 3D characters for real-time 3D applications such as video games.
- Knowledge and experience in the creation of PBR textures and materials in a realistic art style.
- Proficiency in relevant 3D/2D design tools, such as Blender, 3DS Max, Maya, Zbrush, Photoshop, Substance 3D Painter, etc.
- Good understanding of preparing characters for animation, including rigging and skinning.
- Experience animating faces to express a range of emotions.
- Experience working on at least one AA or AAA game is preferred.
- Strong self-discipline and ability to work effectively in a remote environment using communication tools such as Discord.
- Experience with Unity 3D.
- Looking to work on mature games with realistic graphics.
- Fluent in English.
Added bonus (not required)
- Drawing skills for simple concept art.
- Comfortable with version control systems (GIT).
- Familiarity with Warpfrog games.
- Fluent in French.
