Job Description

Yellow Brick Games is looking for a passionate and talented Environment Concept Artist to join our team. Your contribution will be crucial to the development of a brand-new IP, as you create breathtaking visual concepts that will define the atmosphere, style, and identity of this new universe. Vou will collaborate closely with art directors, level designers, and 30 modelers to bring our environments to life.

Yellow Brick Games is a Canadian studio located in Quebec City, but we are open to offering remote work possibilities. We are an equal opportunity employer. Responsibilities

  • Create environment, set, and landscape concepts that capture the project’s artistic direction and mood.
  • Produce sketches, digital paintings (matte painting), and detailed illustrations.
  • Work from written descriptions or briefs, translating them into clear and inspiring visual concepts.
  • Develop mood boards and color schemes to guide the production team.
  • Collaborate with the level design and 30 modeling teams to ensure concepts are technically feasible while maintaining their artistic vision.
  • Adapt and refine concepts based on feedback and project needs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a concept artist in the video game industry.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating a mastery of composition, perspective, lighting, and color, with a particular emphasis on realistic environments.
  • Excellent skills in drawing and digital painting with a proven ability to reproduce credible textures, materials, and lighting effects.
  • Proficiency with 3D software (such as Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max) to quickly create “mock-ups,” scene bases, and block out geometry.
  • Ability to work with photographie and architectural references to create immersive and authentic environments.
  • ln-depth knowledge of video game production pipelines and the technical constraints related to creating realistic 30 environments.
  • A strong eye for detail and the ability ta create concepts that convey a sense of life and history.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with various teams.
  • Creativity, proactivity, and the ability to solve problems autonomously.
  • Ability ta forecast and commit ta achieving delivery objectives within reasonable deadlines.
  • Familiarity with an agile production methodology.
  • A genuine desire to produce a fun game with emergent gameplay, along with the ability to inspire and create.
  • Work Location: While our studio is based in Quebec City, we offer the possibility of working remotely or in a hybrid model for candidates operating within the Eastern time zone.
