Job Summary
The Associate Designer, Concept is responsible for producing key art, marketing art, concept art, illustrations, and designs for print, digital and multimedia. Capable of creative thinking and problem solving to address the needs and challenges of world class theme park attractions and projects. Uses perspective, composition, and illustration to convey ideas. Quick hand-sketching in a brainstorming/creative charette environment is essential. Effectively collaborates with a wide range of team members to insure that designs optimally achieve artistic goals and support the creative vision. Develops designs that are consistent with UDX (Universal Destinations & Experiences) design quality and brand standards.
Major Responsibilities
- Creates conceptual art, illustration, and sketches to convey vision of a concept prior to further development. Produces numerous quick sketches, storyboards, or roughs to communicate ideas and explore multiple design options during, and as a result of participation in, creative meetings, design reviews and management presentations.
- Conceives, develops, and defines all design elements of assigned project that affect guest experience in concert with the Creative Director of a given project. Accomplished with many different methods of design and visualization, including participation in brainstorm sessions, creating sketches “on the fly”, storyboards, POVs, renderings, 3D models, illustrations, plans, sections, and elevations. Will work by hand including but not limited to 2D and 3D software.
- Interacts with creative teams to support creative concepts and executions of assigned projects. Assists and supports other artists as needed to improve skills and project work. Adheres to defined project parameters including budgets and timeframes. Develops and visually presents appropriate project presentations to both internal audiences to communicate project concept, content, and status.
- Maintains understanding of UDX Core Business, Brand Portfolio, Brand Standards, IP Use Guidelines, and Target Audiences. Ensures consistent application of brand standards. Maintaining a cohesive design in all elements associated with the project through all phases of development.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Education
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Fine Arts, Visual Communication Design (Graphic Design) field, advertising agency, or in-house agency. Portfolio of relevant creative work.
Experience
2+ years’ design experience for themed entertainment, theme parks or related industries (i.e., advertising, graphic design, video game development, etc.). Knowledgeable in a wide array of media including print, broadcast, online; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
