2D Cut-Out Animator: all levels (Senior - Mid - Jr)

We are looking for 2D Cut-Out Animators from all levels (Junior, Mid and Senior) to join our offices in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain.

Your Role:

• Character & Scene Animation: Create compelling and expressive 2D cut-out animation for characters, props, and environments, ensuring it meets project aesthetic and technical standards. The complexity, autonomy, and efficiency in this task will increase with your level.
• Production Collaboration: Work closely with the department lead/supervisor and production team to understand project requirements and integrate dynamic character performance throughout the animation process. Your proactive engagement will grow with your level.
• Feedback Integration & Application: Actively seek, receive, and concisely incorporate feedback from leads and supervisors to refine your work, ensuring it aligns with the director's vision.
• Quality & Standards Adherence: Ensure your work meets departmental quality standards for posing, movement, and visual consistency within the cut-out animation pipeline.
• Technical & Artistic Problem Solving: Identify and escalate both technical and artistic challenges within the 2D cut-out animation pipeline, seeking solutions with support from senior team members or leads.
• Task Estimation: Provide estimates for animation tasks to the Production Owner to aid in prioritizing the work schedule.
• Mentorship & Resource (Senior Level): Act as a resource and mentor for more junior animators, sharing knowledge, best practices, and helping to foster their growth within the team. (This responsibility is primarily for Senior-level animators).

What were looking for:

• Creativity: A strong creative vision and an eye for appealing character performance and dynamic storytelling.
• Academic Training/Degree: Academic training or a degree in Animation, Digital Art, or a related field.
• Relevant Experience: Previous experience in a similar position (2D animation, particularly cut-out) between 6 months and 5 years, commensurate with the level required and type of animation assigned.
• Cartoon Style Expertise: Experience with a cartoon style is a must.
• Foundational Knowledge: Solid knowledge about posing, weight, and timing in motion specific to 2D animation.
• Software Proficiency: Solid knowledge in Toon Boom Harmony is essential.
• Team Working Skills: Demonstrated teamwork skills, including effective communication, prioritization of daily tasks, and the ability to collaborate constructively.
• Technical Comprehension: Solid technical comprehension of 2D rigs and how they function for animation.
• Language: Proficiency in English and Spanish.

General Information:

• Office-based in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain.
• Working shift: Monday to Thursday 08.00 to 16.00, Friday 08.00 to 14.00.
• Contract type: project, estimated duration 7 months. Opportunity for continued employment through successive projects.
